Water use can be categorized based on user. In Ramsey, water sales are categorized into
three user classes. The residential class includes all residential users. The commercial class
includes all commercial and light industrial users on the system. A separate sprinkler
classification consists of commercial users with separate sprinkler meters. In addition, a certain
amount of water in any system is unaccounted for, either through line losses or inaccurate meter
reading. Table 1.2 presents a summary of the water user classifications for the past four years.
TABLE 1.2
WATER USE BY CLASSIFICATION
2000
2001
2002
2003
Average
Residential
81%
68%
63%
62%
68.6%
Commercial
10%
11%
10%
16%
11.8%
Commercial/Sprinkler
6%
7%
7%
15%
8.7%
Unaccounted
3%
14%
20%
6%
11.0%
Total
100%
100%
100%
100%
100%
Table 1.3 presents a summary of the historical per capital water usage for Ramsey.
TABLE 1.3
PER CAPITA WATER USAGE
2000
2001
2002
2003
Average
Service Population
6,270
6,579
6,918
7,264
1035
Residential GPCD
144.76
114.06
102.90
118.86
120.14
Gross GPCD
179.20
167.03
163.01
190.89
175.03
C.
