Projects
eligible for recognition must have a focus on improving outdoor enjoyment, sustainability and/or
conservation of natural resources and should result in the enjoyment, benefit, or education of
the citizenry. The scope of a project will assist in determining the level of recognition, through
either the Environmental Policy Board (EPB), Parks and Recreation Commission, and/or the City
Council.
Eligible projects can be completed on either public or private property. However, projects on
public property require City -approval of the project prior to starting work. If on private property,
it is important to demonstrate how it will or does benefit the public (e.g. can the public see the
results of the project or how will the project produce sustainable results for the greater
community).
Nominations for projects can be submitted at any time during the year. The nomination process
is intended to be quick yet informative. There are three components that must be addressed as
part of the this process, which will be used to determine not only whether a project qualifies for
recognition but also what level of recognition: qualifying criteria, written summary or narrative
of the project, (this is meant to be a simple, brief summary), and a written response to project
considerations.
A nominated project may be recognized by the City Council and/or an advisory board based on
the review of responses to the three (3) components addressed above. Upon verification of
completion, successful projects may result in a letter of recognition from the Mayor and/or
Chairperson of the respective advisory board. Additionally, a plaque, certificate or other form of
recognition for the purposes of public display at their place of residence or business may be
provided. Finally, a project summary and notification of award to the recipient(s) may be placed
in an upcoming issue of the Ramsey Resident newsletter and on the City's website.
The recognition program framework will be review by the EPB annually and the EPB reserves the
right to amend any component of the program, if deemed necessary, to ensure that it is efficient,
effective and relevant.
