Environmental Policy Board (EPB) 5. 4.
Meeting Date: 05/05/2014
By: Chris Anderson, Community
Development
E -2 and E- 1 Employment Districts
Information
Title:
Discussion: Receive Presentation on Existing Employment District Standards
Purpose /Background:
In an effort to ensure a proactive, systematic, and regular review of existing zoning and subdivision standards as
they may relate to the mission of the EPB, Staff will attempt to make a more regular presentation on what standards
for new development are currently in place. This exercise will attempt to ensure that the City's land use regulations
are always up to date and also consistent with the goals of the EPB. Furthermore, this exercise fits nicely with the
EPB's current Work Plan, which includes a review of standards related to storm water, such as opportunities to
promote infiltration (e.g. encourage ribbon curb versus B6 12 curb), ways to encourage conservation practices such
as the use of rain barrels and soil moisture sensors, and reviewing the irrigation requirement. This exercise will
help to identify outdated regulations and standards and ensure that the Zoning and Subdivision Code is a tool to
achieving the City's land use and conservation goals, versus becoming a barrier to those goals. A copy of the E -1
and E -2 zoning district standards are attached for review. Staff will walk through the structure and components of
these sections at the meeting. Generally speaking, these sections of City Code establish the underlying zoning
district and are arranged by use allowed within the district (permitted, conditional, and accessory), bulk standards
(site layout), and exterior materials (design). This discussion should focus primarily on the bulk standards, as they
relate mostly with site design, which most closely align with components of the Board's mission.
Action:
No action is necessary at this time as this topic is for discussion only.
Attachments
Form Review
Inbox Reviewed By Date
Chris Anderson (Originator) Chris Anderson 05/02/2014 10:10 AM
Form Started By: Chris Anderson Started On: 04/30/2014 01:25 PM
Final Approval Date: 05/02/2014
