CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Strommen called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:33 p.m. <br />2. TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br />2.01: Storm Season Emergency Management Overview <br />Fire Chief Kapler indicated that in the theme of Tornado Awareness Month (April) he will be <br />presenting a summer storm scenario. He stated there have been two federally declared disasters <br />in Ramsey during his tenure. Fire Chief Kapler presented a summer tornado scenario that had <br />resulted in damage ranging from minor roof damages to total destruction. Some roads are <br />blocked and impassable by storm debris, power lines are down with many homes out of power, <br />and adjacent neighbors have experienced straight line winds with significant damage. Based on <br />that scenario, he explained how most residents will react, emergency crews will determine extent <br />of damage, and then fire /police will establish priorities with life /safety being the first priority. <br />City Council Work Session / April 22, 2014 <br />Page 1 of 9 <br />
