Economic Development Manager LaFrance advised that Chairperson Steffen was in favor of <br />selecting Bolton & Menk as Business of the Year. <br />Member Riley spoke in favor of selecting Acapulco as Business of the Year. <br />Motion by Member Brunt, seconded by Member Williams, to select Acapulco as the 2014 EDA <br />Business of the Year. <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Vice Chairperson Skaff, Members Brunt, Williams, and Riley. <br />Voting No: Member Hardin. Absent: Chairperson Steffen and Member LeTourneau. <br />5. MEMBER/STAFF INPUT <br />5.01: Golf Tournament Event Review/Planning <br />Economic Development Manager LaFrance advised that staff is anticipating the golf tournament <br />will be a net zero event and stated that savings of $729.44 from the Business Expo could be used <br />for the event and there will be a savings related to sales tax on the dinner for Wells Catering of <br />roughly $300. He stated that hole sponsors in 2014 were $125 and it is recommended this <br />amount be increased to $155 and dinner fees in 2014 were $97 and it is recommended this <br />amount be increased to $99. <br />Member Riley suggested that staff eliminate the yellow ball because it seemed to slow things <br />down because people were spending a lot of time looking for the yellow ball. He also urged staff <br />to reconsider the promo item and see if a nicer promo gift is available. <br />Economic Development Manager LaFrance stated he heard similar comments about the promo <br />gift and staff has contacted Ace Sales to see what other gifts might be available. <br />Member Williams stated the t -shirts were a good idea but a logistical nightmare on the day of the <br />tournament. <br />Economic Development Manager LaFrance stated that the City spent $3,270 for the Business <br />Expo out of a $4,000 budget that could be used for the golf tournament or designated for the <br />Finance and Commerce 1 /2 page advertisement. <br />Member Riley supported using the excess Business Expo funds for the Finance and Commerce <br />advertisement. <br />5.02: EDA/Staff Updates <br />Economic Development Manager LaFrance advised that MMI Precision's request for site plan <br />approval was approved by the Planning Commission on May 1S He stated that Prospect GLE <br />has indicated it is not interested in moving forward at this time due to issues with its current cash <br />flow. He stated that the HRA moved to enter into a Purchase Agreement with Prospect <br />Affordable Housing (CommonBond) for a 47 -unit affordable apartment complex west of The <br />Residence at the COR. He indicated that the Anoka County HRA passed a resolution in May <br />Economic Development Authority /June 12, 2014 <br />Page 3 of 4 <br />
