CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, June 10, 2014, at <br />the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br />Members Present: <br />Also Present: <br />Mayor Sarah Strommen <br />Councilmember Randy Backous (arrived 5:45 p.m.) <br />Councilmember Jill Johns <br />Councilmember Mark Kuzma <br />Councilmember John LeTourneau <br />Councilmember Chris Riley (arrived 5:36 p.m.) <br />Councilmember Jason Tossey (arrived 6:12 p.m.) <br />City Administrator Kurt Ulrich <br />Finance Director Diana Lund <br />Fire Chief Dean Kapler <br />Parks and Assistant Public Works Superintendent Mark Riverblood <br />Public Works Superintendent Grant Riemer <br />Human Resources Manager Colleen Lasher <br />Community Development Director Timothy Gladhill <br />City Engineer Bruce Westby <br />Assistant to the City Administrator Patrick Brama <br />Economic Development Manager Ted LaFrance <br />City Attorney Joe Langel <br />1. CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Strommen called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:33 p.m. <br />2. TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br />Fire Chief Kapler mentioned the Rum River is rising and will likely rise another foot, or more if <br />there is a large rain. If there are more rainstorms, there are properties that may have issues with <br />flooding. He noted staff is keeping watch on this issue and is gathering resources if needed for <br />residents. <br />Councilmember Kuzma asked whether Ramsey would provide the sandbags and sand or provide <br />resources for these items. <br />Fire Chief Kapler answered the City has the bags and the sand, but does not provide any labor. <br />City Administrator Ulrich confirmed the role of the City is to deliver sand and sandbags to <br />properties as needed.
