April 25, 2014 Volume 8 1 Issue 8
Zoning Bulletin
WASHINGTON
The Bainbridge Island Planning Commission has proposed regulations on
new marijuana businesses. Reportedly, the regulations would permit growing
on Residential-0.4 zoned property (which allows one home on 2.5 acres) and
on a minimum lot size of one acre. Pursuant to state -mandate, additional condi-
tions imposed under the proposed regulations would include: setbacks, buf-
fers, and screening under the city staff's advisement.
Source: Bainbridge Island Review; www.bainbridgereview.com
WISCONSIN
Members of the Ashland County Zoning Committee recently approved a
measure that imposes a temporary shoreland zoning moratorium that affects
land use permits for the Town of La Pointe. Their action was expected to be
approved by the full board at the next meeting. "The action comes as a re-
sponse to a recent State Court of Appeals ruling that stripped the ability of
towns to create their own zoning rules. . . . If passed by the full county board,
the ordinance will remain in place until the County can adopt what are es-
sentially the same zoning requirements exercised by the town of La Pointe,
requirements that are more restrictive than shoreland zoning districts
elsewhere in the county."
Source: The Daily Press; www.ashlandwi.com
12 © 2014 Thomson Reuters
