Council Update
Fire Department Update. Fire Chief Kapler attended the Oak Grove Council meeting on July
14 as requested by the Oak Grove Fire Chief. Our department was asked to attend and answer
questions about a fire in Oak Grove that the Ramsey Fire Department, and other agencies,
responded to in June. Also attending was Jerry Streich, Andover Fire Chief, and Mark DuCharme,
East Bethel Fire Chief.
The Ever Popular Bark -Park. Alpine Park's off -leash area is a coveted resource for hundreds
of Ramsey residents — and the park is a destination for pet owners outside Ramsey's borders too.
The Twin Cities `Sidewalk Dog' blog is featuring Ramsey's site today, and quotes, "Most of the
dogs that frequent the park are known by name..." Indeed, many patrons there are actually heard
to reference other humans as "Rover's Mom, of Fido's Dad" as so many dogs are known to one-
another! The blog goes on to point out that many plan in advance to meet at the park, for what is
a favorable social experience for canines and people alike
http: / /www.sidewalkdog. com/blog/ 2014/07 /dog -park- detective - alpine - off- leash- dog -park/
Utilities Department Update.
• The Utilities Department responded to a sanitary sewer back up on Tuesday in the
intersection of 144 and Sunfish Lake Blvd. Crews discovered three manholes were
completely filled with sewage and one business had floor drains backing up as well. The
Jetter truck was utilized to break up the blockage and get the sewer moving again. The
blockage seems to be a large amount of black colored sand; crews have vacuumed and
jetted the lines for up to a mile south of the blockage. Up to a yard of sand was removed
from the sewer. The Utility Supervisor will be visiting the company that was most likely
responsible for the blockage.
• A utility person read all water meters for the second quarter utility billing process. The
current count is 4200 water meters.
• Sanitary sewer annual cleaning has been completed. Our two person crew cleaned and
inspected 1/3 of our sewer system. We are now concentrating on cleaning storm sewers
and storm septors, this activity will continue until freeze up.
Save the Date:
• Anoka Area Chamber Golf Scramble.
