Council Member introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION # 2014-08-158 <br />RESOLUTION TO ADOPT AN UPDATED PERSONNEL POLICY <br />WHEREAS, the City's personnel policy has not been updated in its entirety since 2006 and <br />it required updating; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's personnel policy was revised based on: 1) the need to have a legally <br />compliant policy, 2) the need to have a policy that reflects the Strategic Plan as it relates to the City <br />Council's direction to modify the City Administrator's authority, streamlining work processes, 3) the <br />need to provide consistency with the City's labor agreements, where appropriate, to promote fairness <br />among employee groups, 4) the need to provide a means for those facing a real, potential, or perceived <br />conflict of interest to identify and disclose said situations, and 5) the need to have a defensible <br />reference to which applicable employees and others shall be held accountable; and <br />WHEREAS, the City's personnel policy was reviewed extensively by multiple internal staff <br />members; as well as Attorney Christian Schafer; and <br />WHEREAS, it is intended that the Personnel Policy will be formally updated every other <br />year; and <br />WHEREAS, staff presented a revised copy of the personnel policy at the July 22, 2014 work - <br />session; and <br />WHEREAS, there was a consensus to approve the personnel policy at the next regular <br />meeting. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, <br />Motion to adopt resolution #14-08-158 to approve an updated City of Ramsey Personnel <br />Policy, effective August 11, 2014. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Council Member, <br />, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City Council this <br />the llth day of August, 2014. <br />
