June 25, 2014 1 Volume 8 I Issue 12
Zoning Bulletin
onin Ty; ews fro rounthe ation
INDIANA
Indianapolis is overhauling its zoning code. According to planners, the
proposed zoning law changes "will make the city greener and more bike- and
pedestrian -friendly while easing the path to high -density, mixed -use
development." The "Indy Rezone" is reportedly the product of nearly two
years of work, made possible by a $1.2 million grant from the U.S. Depart-
ment of Housing and Urban Development.
Source: Indianapolis Business Journal; www.ibi.com
MARYLAND
Arundel County is considering a bill that would ban rubble landfills from
residential zones, instead limiting them to industrial areas.
Source: The Baltimore Sun; htm://articles.baltimoresun.com
VIRGINIA
Fairfax County residents may face limits on the number of people they can
host at their home. Under a proposed zoning ordinance, the county would
make it illegal to have more than 49 people in a home three times within a 40-
day period. The ordinance was aimed at stopping large house parties, but crit-
ics say it would "punish church groups, scout troops and even real estate open
houses."
Source: MyFoxDC; www.mvfoxdc.com
12 © 2014 Thomson Reuters
