Prospect 80
Prospect 80 is a local manufacturer in need of adding roughly 60- 70,000 sq. ft. to their existing
building. Staff has worked in the past (last couple years) to provide information needed for an
expansion. At a recent BR &E visit Staff rekindled the discussion and has been providing additional
information for the business to utilize as it prepares its expansion plans. An expansion at the
Ramsey location requires listing a building at another location that it owns. This prospect has
sufficient space to expand at its current site.
Update
No update to date.
Prospect Iron
A local manufacturer is seeking 50,000 square feet of space; new or existing. Staff provided an RFI
to the development community seeking available space in that size range (along with other criteria)
to no avail. Staff has subsequently connected this business with a design build firm that reached
out stating interest in drafting estimates for a new build project. Prospect Iron is a prominent,
longtime business in Ramsey. This prospect may locate at our Ramsey Blvd. parcel or in the new
business park. Each location allows for this type of use. Prospect Iron was relayed information
regarding assistance programs available to assist in their expansion (and retention of) here in
Ramsey.
Prospect Shape
This prospect is a local manufacturer —one our largest employers. Staff is working diligently with
this business on a possible redevelopment project. Staff has connected with State (redevelopment
support programs) and the business' design build firm to identify a game plan to make this project
happen. This project may include up to 40 -50k square feet of warehouse /manufacturing /office
space.
Business Retention & Expansion Program (BR &E)
EDA agreed to tap into the BR &E resources that Greater MSP has to offer — creating local
efficiencies (recording, developing reports, tracking, etc.) and greater regional cooperation to drive
economic development. Staff has started to combine Ramsey's specific survey with Greater MSP's
for use in visits in 2014. A priority list of businesses has been created (prior to Ted's arrival). EDA
requested EDA Members be involved in business visits. If you are available to attend the below
scheduled visits, please connect directly with Ted LaFrance.
Update
Staff has created one survey for use in Ramsey for BR &E visits. All information obtained during the
visit is confidential. Aggregate data will be presented annually. All visits are logged through Greater
MSP's Salesforce system.
