CASE #
REVIEW STATUS OF UPDATES TO LAND USE AND TRANSPORTATION
ELEMENTS OF THE COMPREHENSIVE PLAN
By: Zoning Administrator Sylvia Frolik
Background:
Per the consensus at the May 19 Planning Commission worshop, tonight's review of the
comprehensive plan updates will focus on land use. Each of the commissioners were to review the
Land Use/Transportation figures provided for the May 19 meeting and be prepared to make
comments and suggestions for the preferred land use configurations.
Observations:
At the May 19 meeting, the Commission requested that the consultants, RLK, fine tune the land
use chart for more ease in comparing existing land uses with proposed land uses, in terms of
acreage available, in each of the transportation/land use figures presented.
The Commission also requested that traffic counts be provided in this agenda. In addition, City
Staff has prepared a couple of charts for your assistance in analyzing the various land use
configurations.
The following items are enclosed:
a) Figures 1 through 7 prepared by RLK and reviewed by the Planning Commission
on May 19, 1994. (Recall that Figure 7 was modified to direct the bridge corridor
into #116 and provide a minor local street heading west to Puma.)
b) Land Use Comparison Chart prepared by RLK
c) Ratio of multi -family units versus single family units
d) Memo from James Gromberg dated June 1, 1994
Recommendation:
If after tonight's session, the Commission has identified all preferred land use and transporation
components, then it would be appropriate to direct City Staff to schedule the public hearing.
Commission Action:
Motion to:
Direct City Staff to schedule a public hearing on , 1994, regarding the
proposed amendments to the Ramsey Comprehensive Plan and to advertise said hearing in
the Anoka Union and the Ramsey Resident.
Review Checklist:
City Administrator
City Engineer
PC: 6/6/94
av-c 6
PiC65
25
