3. TOPICS FOR FUTURE DISCUSSION
Councilmember Johns indicated it was brought up to her that new Charter Commission members
do not receive training or a "welcome" packet.
Human Resources Manager Lasher responded a staff member does help to `walk' new members
through the processes.
Councilmember Riley asked what the policy is for political signs on public land.
City Administrator Ulrich noted each citizen has the right to put up signs for candidates of their
choice as part of free speech. In public areas, the decision whether to allow signs is in the lease.
Mayor Strommen pointed out if a negative sign goes up on City property, it is an anti- community
message. This would be a conflict of interest.
City Administrator Ulrich offered to discuss this item with the City Attorney for clarification.
4. MAYOR / COUNCIL / STAFF INPUT
City Administrator Ulrich stated he sent a written proposal to St. Katharine Drexel Catholic
church regarding a land trade. He advised there is an interested party for the old Municipal
Center which staff is working on.
City Administrator Ulrich announced the longest serving employee of the City gave his notice.
Mick Stenquist will retire in September after 37 years with the City. He is a Heavy Equipment
Operator.
Discussion took place on the best way to honor Mr. Stenquist for his service.
5.
