6.88 r : Military Leave <br />State and federal laws provide for and regulate military leave for employees who are called to <br />military service, whether in the Reserves or full-time service. Leave from employment to <br />participate in military duty is addressed in federal law in the Uniformed Services Employment & <br />Re-employment Rights Act (USERRA). Public employees in Minnesota engaged in military <br />service have additional benefits under Minnesota Statutes. Every cityCity of Ramsey employee, <br />whether in the Reserves or full-time service, will be afforded the benefits entitled to them under <br />federal and state law. Employees should contact Human Resources for additional details. <br />6.94: Parenting Leave <br />Parenting Leave, as provided for in Minnesota Statutes, grants aualifvine male and female <br />employees wk:x-nac‘k-'cvcragc of 20 or morc hours per week unpaid leave of up to twelve <br />(12)si* weeks for: (1) a biological or adoptive parent in coniunction with the birth or adoption of a <br />child: or (2) a female employee for prenatal care, or incapacity due to pregnancy, childbirth, or a <br />related health condition. Parental Leave is considered to be taken simultaneously with FMLA <br />leave. If leave is taken due to the birth or adoption of a child, the leave must begin within twelve <br />(12) monthsFamily a:-Kl M.vi‘xa L: avc ae outlincd the City of the birth or adoption, unless the <br />child remains in the hospital after the mother has been discharged, in which case the leave must <br />begin within twelve (12) months after the child leaves the hospital.Ramsoy's Personnel Polity. <br />6.10712 School Conference and Activities Leave <br />• - - Formatted: Heading 2 <br />Formatted: Font: Arial, 14 pt <br />• - - -4 Formatted: Heading 2 <br />Formatted: Font: Arial, 14 pt <br />Any qualifying employee may take leave of up to 16 hours during any 12-month period to attend <br />school -related activities related to the employee's child attending school, provided the school -related <br />activities cannot be scheduled during non -work hours. <br />When the leave cannot be scheduled during non -work hours and the need for the leave is foreseeable, <br />the employee must provide reasonable prior notice of the leave and make a reasonable effort to <br />schedule the leave so as not to unduly disrupt the operations of the employer. Employees may use <br />accrued vacation leave or compensatory time off concurrently with leave granted pursuant Wunder <br />this section. <br />6.11713 Jury or Witness Duty <br />AnyAny regular or probe tionely employee who is required to serve as a juror or who is under <br />subpoena as a witness in court for job -related purposes, shall be granted a leave of absence with <br />pay while serving in such capacity. An employee cannot receive more than the employee's normal <br />take-home pay as a result of any employer pay supplemented to Jury Duty pay. Jury duty pay <br />excluding transportation reimbursement, must be remitted to the City within 30 days after receipt <br />of payment from iudicial agency.
