FAQs:
1. Why does this project need to happen (what is the purpose)?
Interchange project dictates we remove our overhead power line along the north side of TH 10
at Armstrong Blvd. where the ramp will be built this season.
2. Related questions: is the project needed in order to directly serve the developable land in the
Bunker extension area (i.e. provide sufficient electricity access for development)? Or, does
this project serve the larger Connexus system (i.e. unrelated to the development of the
Bunker extension area)?
Yes. This would service load in the Bunker Lake Blvd. extension area and also provide back feed
for the COR from our Daytonport substation north on TH 10. We would have built a feeder line
along Bunker Lake Blvd. as this area developed.
3. What existing electrical infrastructure exists today along Bunker (west of Armstrong)?
Only a single phase underground distribution tap feeding one transformer to service a storage
building.
4. What is the final cost estimate the City should use? Should we add in a contingency?
The range we previously provided was a rough estimate of $75,000.00 to $150,000.00. Now that
you want more specific information we calculated a firm cost of $91,300.00. This cost is
provided we build the facilities on Puma overhead.
5. Is the line planned to be buried on Puma also (from Bunker to Hwv 10)?
No, we would need an easement provided if this area needs to be buried. I am concerned with
underground placement along an undeveloped roadway. If you provided an easement and we
buried the facility along Puma it would add $7,300.00 differential cost for a total firm cost of
$98,600.00.
6. Today. is the line on Hwv 10 buried (near Armstrong)?
No, not in the area of the interchange work.
7. Is the 'redundant' substation vou are connecting to —the one located in The Links
development?
The substation is located near the Links development. It is not 'redundant' [it is a back -feed].
8. If we decided not to bury today, and decided to do it at a later date —meaning a different
project --would there be a cost premium (i.e. greater that 75-150K)? If ves, do vou have a
rough estimation (or percentage)?
You would be charged 100% of the cost rather than the incremental cost. It would be 2.5 to 3.5
times more costly.
