CC Regular Session <br />Meeting Date: 07/08/2014 <br />By: Diana Lund, Finance <br />4. 3. <br />Information <br />Title <br />Approve Exemption for a Gambling License for Ruffed Grouse Society - Twin Cities Chapter <br />Purpose/Background: <br />Purpose: The State Gambling Board requires a city to give approval to a non-profit organization for a gambling <br />event that is located within its city limits by acknowledging this approval by signing off on an application for <br />exempt permit. <br />The attached application is from the non-profit, Ruffed Grouse Society - Twin Cities Chapter for exemption from a <br />lawful gambling license to hold a fund-raising raffle at Game Fair on August 17, 2014. <br />The Ruffed Grouse Society is a wildlife conservation organization whose mission is to improve the environment for <br />Ruffed Grouse, American Woodcock and other forest wildlife. <br />The Ruff Grouse Society meets all of the requirements which allow them to remain exempt from licensing, <br />primarily from the standpoint that commodities to be raffled are valued at less than $50,000 in a calendar year. <br />Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends that Council approve the exemption from a lawful gambling license for Ruffed Grouse Society - <br />Twin Cities Chapter to hold a raffle at Game Fair on August 17, 2014. <br />Action: <br />Motion to recommend Council approve the exemption from a lawful gambling license for Ruffed Grouse Society - <br />Twin Cities Chapter to hold a raffle at Game Fair on August 17, 2014. <br />Attachments <br />Application for Exemption - Ruffed Grouse Society <br />Form Review <br />Inbox Reviewed By Date <br />Kurt Ulrich Kurt Ulrich 07/02/2014 04:13 PM <br />Form Started By: Diana Lund Started On: 06/27/2014 09:45 AM <br />Final Approval Date: 07/02/2014 <br />
