5.04: Public Hearing: Consider Resolution #14-07-138 Approving a Comprehensive Plan
Amendment for the Establishment of a Future Business Park West of Armstrong
Boulevard
Public Hearing
Chairperson Levine called the public hearing to order at 8:12 p.m.
Presentation
Development Services Manager Gladhill presented the staff report stating the purpose of this case
is to consider a recommendation on a proposed Comprehensive Plan Amendment to establish an
appropriate land use for a future business park to be located west of Armstrong Boulevard, south
of the Bunker Lake Boulevard extension, and west of Puma Street. It is not the purpose of this case
nor this process to consider acquisition of real property nor the construction of any improvements
at this time. The purpose of this case is to consider adjusting our Future Land Use Map in order to
help achieve our Comprehensive Plan and Strategic Plan goals of increasing employment
opportunities and improving the City's tax base. Staff discussed the work plan goals of the EDA
and recommended approval of the Comprehensive Plan Amendment to Places to Work in order to
establish a new, future business park generally located on portions west of Armstrong Boulevard.
Citizen Innut
Motion by Commissioner Bauer, seconded by Commissioner Maul, to close the public hearing.
Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Levine, Commissioners Bauer, Maul, Brauer, and
Nosan. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner VanScoy.
Chairperson Levine closed the public hearing closed at 8:20 p.m.
Commission Business
Commissioner Brauer supported the alternatives proposed by staff and was pleased that the City
was expanding its business park, as he did not want to see the City lose businesses to other
communities.
Chairperson Levine asked if there were retail options in the business park. Development Services
Manager Gladhill explained the retail area was to the west of the proposed business park along
Armstrong Boulevard.
Motion by Commissioner Maul, seconded by Commissioner Nosan, to recommend that City
Council adopt Resolution #14-07-138 approving a Comprehensive Plan Amendment to Places to
Work in order to establish a new, future business park generally located on portions west of
Armstrong Boulevard.
