5.04: Public Hearing: Consider Resolution #14-07-138 Approving a Comprehensive Plan <br />Amendment for the Establishment of a Future Business Park West of Armstrong <br />Boulevard <br />Public Hearing <br />Chairperson Levine called the public hearing to order at 8:12 p.m. <br />Presentation <br />Development Services Manager Gladhill presented the staff report stating the purpose of this case <br />is to consider a recommendation on a proposed Comprehensive Plan Amendment to establish an <br />appropriate land use for a future business park to be located west of Armstrong Boulevard, south <br />of the Bunker Lake Boulevard extension, and west of Puma Street. It is not the purpose of this case <br />nor this process to consider acquisition of real property nor the construction of any improvements <br />at this time. The purpose of this case is to consider adjusting our Future Land Use Map in order to <br />help achieve our Comprehensive Plan and Strategic Plan goals of increasing employment <br />opportunities and improving the City's tax base. Staff discussed the work plan goals of the EDA <br />and recommended approval of the Comprehensive Plan Amendment to Places to Work in order to <br />establish a new, future business park generally located on portions west of Armstrong Boulevard. <br />Citizen Innut <br />Motion by Commissioner Bauer, seconded by Commissioner Maul, to close the public hearing. <br />Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Levine, Commissioners Bauer, Maul, Brauer, and <br />Nosan. Voting No: None. Absent: Commissioner VanScoy. <br />Chairperson Levine closed the public hearing closed at 8:20 p.m. <br />Commission Business <br />Commissioner Brauer supported the alternatives proposed by staff and was pleased that the City <br />was expanding its business park, as he did not want to see the City lose businesses to other <br />communities. <br />Chairperson Levine asked if there were retail options in the business park. Development Services <br />Manager Gladhill explained the retail area was to the west of the proposed business park along <br />Armstrong Boulevard. <br />Motion by Commissioner Maul, seconded by Commissioner Nosan, to recommend that City <br />Council adopt Resolution #14-07-138 approving a Comprehensive Plan Amendment to Places to <br />Work in order to establish a new, future business park generally located on portions west of <br />Armstrong Boulevard. <br />
