Chairperson Backous felt that nothing would occur until Rams <br /> <br />Development Services Manager <br />Comprehensive Plans need to match and agreed it would be of benefit to hold a joint meeting. <br /> <br />Councilmember Riley suggested, as a first step, that Mayor Strommen be asked to reach out to <br /> <br /> <br />The Public Works Committee agreed with this suggestion. <br /> <br />Informational; action required. <br /> <br />5.05: Legislative Update on Street Improvement District Authority <br /> <br />Public Works Superintendent Riemer reviewed the staff report and update on the Street <br />Improvement District Authority Legislation. He noted the Council had adopted a resolution in <br />support of this legislation and the bill is currently before the Tax Committee so it is still moving <br />forward. <br /> <br />Chairperson Backous stated that is a good sign and many cities have also expressed support. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich advised that the League of Minnesota Cities is also firmly behind this <br />legislation and has sent a letter to the Governor. <br /> <br />Informational; action required. <br /> <br />6. COMMITTEE / STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />Public Works Superintendent Riemer stated the sweeping contractor will start on Thursday and <br />RCM (pothole patcher) will start on April 22, 2014. He reported on pothole repairs and advised <br />the City is using two tons of asphalt per day. <br /> <br />Councilmember Riley asked if Sunwood Drive would be fixed this year, noting it is an MSA <br />road but there are no available MSA funds. <br /> <br />Public Works Superintendent Riemer stated that is correct. <br /> <br />Councilmember Riley stated the Council was previously told there were no MSA funds for road <br />repair, but then MSA funds were used for a recent project. He requested a staff update on MSA <br />funds. <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich explained that MSA funds had been allocated for that recent project <br />and staff will provide an update. <br /> <br />Councilmember Riley referenced an Anoka County Union article indicating the City had not <br />spent all the 2013 road money. <br />Public Works Committee / April 15, 2014 <br />Page 10 of 12 <br />
