A Study Group process recently completed, focused on the potential of redeveloping
this campus as a data center. A data center is essentially a warehousing for storage of computer servers used for data storage.
Ultimately, the City Council chose to end further review of this campus for redevelopment of a data center and directed Staff
to begin a process to amend the City's Comprehensive Plan to allow for future redevelopment of this site as a single-family
residential development.
Future Business Park
The City's Economic Development Authority (EDA) has been exploring areas of the City that could serve as a future business
park. The City's existing industrial parks have all but reached their capacity of developable area for new/existing businesses to
build in Ramsey. The EDA has been working with the Planning Commission to identify an area west of Armstrong Boulevard
to amend our Comprehensive Plan to facilitate areas for future, private business development. This need for developable
space is demonstrated by our businesses stating their need, in the next 2-7 years, of over 365,000 square feet. Please keep in
mind this is the demand stated solely by the business visits made in late 2013/2014—the demand is forecasted to be much
greater. One such lead has made active progress on securing a site to house 75-100k square feet in the Future Business Park.
Highway 10 Access Planning Study
In 2013, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) initiated the Highway 10 Access Planning Study. The
purpose of the study is to identify incremental, lower -cost options to improve the condition of Highway 10. Mn/DOT is
working to complete the study in the coming weeks for consideration by the cities of Ramsey and Anoka. For more
information, please visit http.//www.dot.state.mn.us/metro/projects/hwyl0studv.
Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area (MRCCAI
The 2013 Minnesota Legislature directed the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (DNR) to update rules that apply
to private property along the Mississippi River along a 72-mile stretch between Ramsey and Hastings. The City and the DNR
