<br />Councilmember Backous introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #14-09-180 <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION SUPPORTING PURSUIT OF LOCAL ROAD IMPROVEMENT <br />PROGRAM FUNDING FOR U.S. HIGHWAY 10 AND ARMSTRONG BOULAVARD <br />INTERCHANGE CONSTRUCTION PROJECT <br /> <br /> WHEREAS, <br />the at-grade intersection located at U.S. Highway 10 and Armstrong <br />Boulevard (C.S.A.H. 83) in Ramsey is a highly relied upon transportation junction for the City of <br />Ramsey, the northwest Twin Cities metro region and the State transportation system as a whole; <br />and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />the significant usage of this intersection, and its close proximity to a highly <br /> <br />utilized railroad line, results in major public safety concerns; and, <br /> <br />WHEREAS <br />, Anoka County is currently in the final stages of designing the construction of <br />a new grade-separated interchange located at the intersection of U.S. Highway 10 and Armstrong <br />Boulevard; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS <br />, the Local Road Improvement Program (LRIP) administered by the Minnesota <br />Department of Transportation makes available funding to apply towards projects on roads that are <br />regionally significant, result in safety improvements, and address transportation deficiencies; and <br /> <br /> WHEREAS <br />, Anoka County is currently applying for use of the LRIP in the amount of <br />$8,000,000; and, <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA, STATE OF MINNESOTA, AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br /> <br />1) The City Council hereby supports Anoka County’s pursuit of Local Road Improvement <br />Program (LRIP) funding for the construction of a grade-separated interchange located at <br />the intersection of U.S. Highway 10 and Armstrong Boulevard <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />LeTourneau, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br /> Mayor Strommen <br /> Councilmember Backous <br /> Councilmember LeTourneau <br /> Councilmember Johns <br /> Councilmember Kuzma <br /> Councilmember Riley <br /> Councilmember Tossey <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br /> None <br /> <br /> <br />
