Commissioner Chubb referenced the trail and noted that tonight he witnessed a situation, which could have become unsafe regarding children and a passing vehicle at the location of the stop sign. Parks & Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood noted that there is a lot of work that goes into traffic engineering and explained that the best option would be to build more awareness of the crossing. He acknowledged that the situation is very difficult. Commissioner Fyten questioned if the City has thought of posting pedestrian stop signs at the location. Parks & Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood noted that could open a larger can of worms because there are over 50 miles of trails within the City and there could also be issues with vandalism. Patrick Surma, 7930 161S Avenue, stated that he has had a colorful and interesting life, which includes a six - year -old boy dying in his arms. He stated that he has seen all kinds of activity at Armstrong and 161S He stated that he did speak with Representative Matt Look and received support for a crosswalk at that location. He stated that he also spoke with City Administrator Ulrich about installing the green signs on the crosswalk for pedestrians as well. He stated that perhaps a large sign could be posted stating "stop, look and listen." Melody Shryock, 14250 Uranium Street, stated that perhaps flashing signs could be posted for a period of time after a new crossing is opened that could be removed after traffic adjusts to the pedestrian traffic. Patrick Surma, stated that he does a lot of walking within the City and believed that it would be nice to have benches along the trail. He stated that perhaps the benches could be donated in memory of a loved one. Parks & Assistant Public Works Superintendent Riverblood reported that there is a Resolution in place, which allows for the donation of benches, noting that two benches had been donated and installed in the past year. 7.
