5.07: Consider Response to Draft Metropolitan Council 2020 and 2030 Forecasts
Presentation
Community Development Director Gladhill presented the Staff Report stating the purpose of this
case was to an official response to the draft forecasts for households, population, and
employment by the Metropolitan Council for the years 2020 and 2030.
Commission Business
Brauer believed the numbers were wrong and wanted to see the City question Met
Council before accepting the forecasts. However, in the end it was a political decision that would
be determined by the City Council.
Community Development Director Gladhill stated there were market fluctuations and the City has
questioned the forecasts from 2030 and 2040. The City does not feel there was sufficient capacity
to meet the growing needs of the City of Ramsey going into the future.
Motion by Chairperson Levine, seconded by Commissioner VanScoy, to recommend that City
Council approve the draft response to the 2020 and 2030 forecasts, with stronger language at the
2020 level.
Motion Carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Levine, Commissioners VanScoy, Bauer, Brauer, Maul,
and Nosan. Voting No: None. Absent: None.
