Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #2: Authorization To Call For Bids For Sprinkler System For Central Park: <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Sorteberg and seconded by Councilmember Reimann to adopt <br />Resolution #84-37 authorizing the preparation of plans and specifications and <br />calling for bids for a sprinkler system at Central Park. (Please refer to <br />resolution file for Resolution #84-37). <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Reimann, <br />Schlueter and Van Wagner. Voting No: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: ~gquest For Economic Development Block Grant Assistance; Case Of <br /> <br />The Alexandra House: <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Van Wagner and seconded by Councilmember Schlueter to <br />adopt Resolution #84-38 granting $3000.00 from the 1984 economic development <br />block grant funds to the Alexandra House, Inc. (Please refer to resolution <br />file for Resolution ~84-38). <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Reimann stated that the City cannot afford <br />to provide items within the City and all of a sudden we give away $3000.00. <br />Mr. Schnelle stated that Revenue Sharing did away with small grants on the <br />basis that communities would accept their responsibilty and designate portions <br />of their CDBG funds for such causes. Mr. Schnelle suggested that Council might <br />set a policy to deal with situations of this type and pointed out that granting <br />use of City Hall for church services is a government grant in a manner of <br />speaking. Mayor Gamec stated that he firmly believes in the Alexandra House, <br />but how many organizations should the City contribute to? Each Councilmember <br />has their favorite organization to which they would like to contribute. <br />Mr. Schnelle suggested that Council appoint a committee to work out a policy. <br />Councilmember Van Wagner stated that she has been informed by the City Police <br />Department that animal contr61 and domestic, lproblems are the largest problem <br />areas in Ramsey, in that order. <br /> <br />Councilmember Van Wagner withdraws her motion. Councilmember Schlueter with- <br />draws her second to the motion. <br /> <br />Councilmember Reimann suggested that donations to community organizations <br />be placed on the Council/Commission Chairperson/Staff workshop agenda. <br /> <br />Case #4: Appointment Of Economic Development Commission Member: <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember Reimann and seconded by Councilmember Schlueter to <br />approve of appointing Mr. Glen Hardin to fill the facancy created by Mr. <br />Joe Sentyrz' resignation from the Economic Development Commission. This <br />unexpired term will expire on January 31, 1985. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Gamec, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Reimann, <br />Schlueter and Van Wagner.
