Among other things, under the new ordinance, "[a]nyone seek- <br />ing to establish a dispensary or a cultivation center" in Chicago will need <br />to obtain a special use permit from the City's Zoning Board of Appeals. <br />Also under the new zoning ordinance, medical marijuana dispensaries al- <br />lowed in most business and commercial zones. <br />Source: Chicago Sun -Times; htty://volitics.suntimes.com <br />LOUISIANA <br />The New Orleans' City Planning Commission is reviewing the latest <br />draft of a "comprehensive zoning ordinance." Among other things, the <br />ordinance would reportedly apply regulations for stormwater control, <br />improve access to the riverfront, and place limits on the height of new <br />buildings <br />Source: The Times -Picayune; www.nola.com <br />NORTH CAROLINA <br />On August 1, Governor Pat McCrory signed into law legislation (House <br />Bill 625) "providing increased options for North Carolinians needing <br />medical care at their own homes." Among other things, under the new <br />law, temporary health-care structures are exempt from zoning ordinances. <br />Source: The Voter Update; httv://thevoteruvdate.com <br />OKLAHOMA <br />State Representative Ben Sherrer has proposed legislation that would <br />limit adult-themed businesses from being closer than 1,000 feet from a <br />home or church in unincorporated areas. Reportedly, the governor does <br />not intend to hold the special session requested by Sherrer because she <br />"believes the issues raised by Sherrer could be addressed locally."
