PROCEEDINGS OF CITY GOUNCIL <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA GOUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council conducted a special meeting on Tuesday, July 9, 1985 at <br />the Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsy, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gary Heitman <br />Councilmember A1 Sorteberg <br />Councilmember Arnie COx <br />Councilm~mber Jean $chlueter <br />Councilm~mber Gary Reimann <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Lloyd Schnelle <br />Director of Technical Services Clayton Berg <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br />City Planner Anne Norris <br />Reporter Angela Flint <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman called the special Council meeting to order at 7:38 p.m. and led <br />in the Pledge of Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />Mr. $id Brennan, attorney for Mr. Jim Gilbertson of J.R. 's Saloon was present <br />and stated that he would like to be heard, during Citizen Input, regarding Mr. <br />Gilbertson's request for a liquor license renewal. <br /> <br />Mayor Hei~an asked City Attorney Goodrich if the requir~nents associated with <br />Mr. Gilbertson's liquor license renewal have been satisfied and if it is <br />appropriate to address the issue at this time. <br /> <br />Mr. Goodrich stated that Council can discuss the issue if they so choose but <br />Mr. Gilbertson's taxes have not been paid; in addition to the paying of the <br />taxes, the State requires a compliance tax certificate; Council can discuss <br />the issue but cannot renew or issue a liquor license until the State <br />requirements are fulfilled. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitzaan stated that it would be inappropriate for Council to take any <br />action until State restrictions are changed or lifted in some way, shape or <br />form. <br /> <br />Mr. Brennan stated that he and his client just found out about the State <br />compliance tax certificate requir~nent this evening. <br /> <br />Mayor Heitman stated that if it is not within the City's realm to act at this <br />time, it is inappropriate to discuss the issue at this time. <br /> July 9, 1985 <br /> <br />Page 3 of 22 <br /> <br /> <br />
