Project Group 5 simulated a full conversion of Thurston Ave. to a grade separated intersection by removing the
traffic signal for eastbound traffic. Delay and the number of anticipated crashes was expected to decrease at
both Thurston and Sunfish Lake.
• Project Group 6 — Sunfish Lake Blvd. Eastbound and Westbound Free Flow
The last project group grade separated the eastbound movement at Sunfish Lake Blvd., and removed the last
signal for mainline Highway 10 through traffic until Elk River. This project group assumed a High T intersection
in Subarea 4 which removed the through movements as well as northbound and eastbound left turns. However,
these movements were routed to other nearby intersections.
HIGHWAY 10 ACCESS PLANNING STUDY 69
