Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #14-10-212 <br />RESOLUTION REJECTING BIDS AND NOT AUTHORIZING AWARD OF <br />CONTRACT FOR IMPROVEMENT PROJECT 14-28; MUNICIPAL PARKING RAMP <br />EQUIPMENT ENCLOSURE IMPROVEMENTS. <br />WHEREAS, pursuant to a motion of the Ramsey City Council, adopted August 11, <br />2014, authorizing advertisements for bids for making improvements to the Ramsey Municipal <br />Parking Ramp to enclose 14 parking stalls for the purpose of heated indoor storage; and <br />WHEREAS, bids were received, opened, and tabulated on September 17, 2014, and the <br />following bids were found to comply with the advertisement for bids; and <br />1 BIDDING CONTRACTOR TOTAL BID <br />1 Sheehy Construction Company $452,300 <br />1 Derau Construction $354,300 <br />WHEREAS, the bid of Derau Construction of Burnsville, Minnesota in the amount of <br />$354,300 for the construction of said improvements in accordance with the approved plans and <br />specifications and advertisement for bids, is the lowest responsible bidder; and, <br />WHEREAS, the Engineer's estimation for construction was $193,930 and the lowest <br />responsible bidder provided a bid 1.83 times greater; and therefore shall be rejected. <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA: <br />1) The Mayor and City Administrator are hereby reject to enter into a contract with said <br />bidder for the construction of said improvements for and on behalf of the City of Ramsey. <br />2) The City Administrator is hereby authorized and directed to return forthwith to all <br />bidders the deposits made with their bids at such time that a contract has been executed. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />none <br />and the following abstained: <br />none <br />RESOLUTION #14-10-212 <br />Page 1 of 2 <br />
