Councilmember introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br />RESOLUTION #14-10-215 <br />RESOLUTION TO PROMOTE A POLICE CAPTAIN TO POLICE CHIEF <br />WHEREAS, Police Chief Jim Way will retire on January 31, 2015; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council directed staff to conduct and internal recruitment <br />followed by an external recruitment if needed; and <br />WHEREAS, internally Captain Jeff Katers submitted a letter of interest and <br />resume, went through the City's testing process, was interviewed by five of seven <br />councilmembers; and <br />WHEREAS, the City Council, by consensus, directed staff to bring a case <br />forward to the City Council to promote Captain Jeff Katers to the position of Chief of <br />Police. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE I.T. RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE <br />CITY OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br />Motion to adopt resolution #14-10-215 to promote Captain Jeff Katers to the <br />position of Chief of Police with the City of Ramsey, effective February 1, 2015, <br />at $49.64 per hour / $103,252 annually, which is step 4 of the wage scale. <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by <br />Councilmember , and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor <br />thereof: <br />and the following voted against the same: <br />and the following abstained: <br />and the following were absent: <br />Whereupon said resolution was declared duly passed and adopted by the Ramsey City <br />Council this the 14t1i day of October 2014. <br />
