COMMITTEE BUSINESS Case//1: Adopt Resolution Approving Proposed 2003 Payable Tax Levy Finance Officer Lund presented the 2003 proposed 2004 payable tax levy, which was as follows: General Fund Levy Debt Service Levy-Lease Revenue Bond (Fire Station #2) (Being Requested) Certificates of Indebtedness (2000 Cap Equip Cert.) (Being Requested) Certificates of Indebtedness (2003 Cap Equip Cert.) (Being Requested) Pera Rate Increase (Being Requested) Drainage District Levy (Mississippi Subdrainage) $4,492,600 $ 148,255 $ 76,254 $ 67,887 $ 7,164 $ 43,348 Total Proposed Levy-2003 $4,835,508 The proposed levy can always be reduced, but it cannot be increased without "higher" level approval through an appeals process. Therefore, it was staff's position that the maximum proposed levy be adopted at the level proposed. The proposed levy must be certified to Anoka County by Monday, September 16, 2002. Finance Officer Lund explained that the City of Ramsey's 2003 public hearings to consider the 2003 budget and tax levy must be held between November 29 and December 20, 2002, and the date of the initial hearing must not conflict with the dates selected by the County, school districts, or special taxing districts, although the continuation hearing may.
