Ms. <br />Norris recommended approval of Mr. Oftedahl's request for a loan. <br /> <br />Mr. Oftedahl was present and stated that he has been trying to have Mr. <br />Peterson's operation removed from the property and it appears it will have <br />to go to court. <br /> <br />Councilmember Cox stated that the loan was to pay to have debris removed <br />from the property; the subcontractor hired to remove the junk buses must <br />have also made a profit on all that steel. <br /> <br />Mr. Oftedahl stated that the subcontractor experienced problems and the <br />task took more labor and time than expected; not much profit was made on <br />the steel. <br /> <br />Motion by Councilmember DeLuca and seconded by Councilmember Cox to approve <br />the Economic Development Company's request for funds from the Revolving <br />Loan Fund. <br /> <br />Further Discussion: Councilmember Pearson inquired if there is a time <br />frame for having the tires removed from the property. Ms. Norris stated <br />that State statutes say that PCA and Waste Management are responsible but <br />those entities deny it; the situation is in the hands of the City and the <br />County. <br /> <br />Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No : None. <br /> <br />MAYOR AND ¢0U~CIL INPUT <br /> <br />Councilmember Pearson noted a grounds improvement at the Ramsey Cemetery. <br /> <br />Mr. Hartley stated that he gave the authority to a young man working on <br />achieving his Eagle Scout merit the job to clean and research the history <br />of the Ramsey Cemetery. <br /> <br />Councilmember DeLuca stated that Mate Punch and Die held an Open House on <br />August 14 in recognition of their 25th anniversary; Councilmember DeLuca <br />presented Council with grill cleaners that are manufactured at Mate; <br />Governor Perpich also declared that day to be Nils Sundquist Day. <br /> <br />Motion by Mayor Reimann and seconded by Councilmember Cox directing City <br />Staff to draft a letter for Council signature indicating to Mate Punch and <br />Die the City's appreciation in having such a good business in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Motion carried: Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox, <br />DeLuca and Pearson.
