48. Protection from Disease and Pestilence Spread by Infested Wood <br /> <br />Selected text was: "No person shall store or permit the accumulation of any pine or elm wood in <br />the City of Ramsey that has not been debarked. No person shall store any tree or part thereof <br />declared to harbor or contain any pest infestation as defined in Section __ of this Chapter, <br />unless the wood is debarked prior to storage." <br /> <br />49. Protection from Dutch Elm Disease <br /> <br />Selected text was: "That any and all trees within the City of Ramsey infected with Dutch elm <br />disease or oak wilt shall be removed from their sites and destroyed." The cost of removing Elm <br />trees infected with the Dutch Elm fungus on private property shall be borne by the property <br />owner." <br /> <br />50. Tree Protection <br /> <br />Selected text was: "Subdivision and development plans shall be designed to preserve natural <br />vegetation areas as much as possible. Streets, parcels, structures and parking areas shall be laid <br />out to minimize the destruction of wooded areas or outstanding tree speciments. Developers of <br />land are encouraged to presetwe wooded areas as public or private open space." Where in <br />authorized excavations, it becomes necessary to expose or cut roots that are greater than one (1) <br />inch in diameter or are within the dripline of any tree, it shall be the duty of the contractor to <br />protect the roots in accordance with the Forestry Policies and Specifications. During the <br />erection, repair, alteration or removal of any building, house or structure in the City, any person, <br />firm, or corporation in charge of such work shall protect any tree in any public place with the <br />City in the vicinity of such building or building with sufficient guards or protectors to prevent <br />injury to such tree." <br /> <br />50.A Tree Protection <br /> <br />Selected text was: "At thc time of preliminary plat application, a tree preservation plan is to be <br />submitted by all developers, builders and soil disturbance project area facilitators in accordance <br />with the City of Ramsey Tree Preservation Administrative Guidelines Policy." <br /> <br />51. Tree Preservation: Minimum Standard Tree Density <br /> <br />Discussion ensued regarding efforts to draft a formula for tree requirements for developments <br />based on canopy cover versus stem counts. Mr. Max will report back to the Task Force at the <br />next regular meeting regarding a timeline for the canopy cover subcommittee to develop such a <br />formula. <br /> <br />52. Tree Preservation: Tree Density Standard Calculation <br /> <br />Canopy cover subcommittee will address this item. <br /> <br />53.
