<br />Councilmember Kuzma introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #14-10-215 <br /> <br /> <br />RESOLUTION TO PROMOTE A POLICE CAPTAIN TO POLICE CHIEF <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />Police Chief Jim Way will retire on January 31, 2015; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />the City Council directed staff to conduct and internal recruitment followed <br />by an external recruitment if needed; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />internallyCaptain Jeff Katers submitted a letter of interest and resume, <br />went through the City’s testing process, was interviewed by five of seven councilmembers; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, <br />the City Council, by consensus, directed staff to bring a case forward to <br />the City Council to promote Captain Jeff Katers to the position of Chief of Police. <br /> <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE I.T. RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY <br />OF RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br /> <br />1) Motion to adopt resolution #14-10-215 to promote Captain Jeff Katers to the position of <br />Chief of Police with the City of Ramsey, effective February 1, 2015, <br />at $49.64 per hour / $103,252 annually, which is step 4 of the wage scale. <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember <br />Johns, and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br /> Mayor Strommen <br /> Councilmember Kuzma <br /> Councilmember Johns <br /> Councilmember LeTourneau <br /> Councilmember Riley <br /> Councilmember Tossey <br /> <br />and the following voted against the same: <br /> <br /> None <br /> <br />and the following abstained: <br /> <br /> None <br /> <br />and the following were absent: <br /> <br /> Councilmember Backous <br /> <br />
