Discussion ensued regarding the Cit.,,, of Ramsey possibly being able to train officers for the DARE Program with thc aid of ti'as funding and also because the fifth graders, will probably be housed at the elemental3.' school in Ramsey in 1992 instead of being sent to Sandburg. Anoka Counciimember Mann stated that the City of Anoka has a separate Board working on Community School issues and there seems to be a better working relationship due to that Board. He stated if someone is working with the community school, you know how the money is being spent. He felt it is imperative for the City of Ramsey to have someone doing the same. Mr. Nagel stated they have given community education a year to make it work, if it doesn't they are going back to the basic service and the City will do it's own activities. The Park Board will work on it. Facility Maintenance and Janitorial Services - Mr. Nagel stated that Anoka currently has a Facility Maintenance Staff and contracts for janitorial services. The City of Ramsey currently has one Building Maintenance Worker. it had been briefly discussed whether or not the two communities can trade janitorial for repair services. Property Appraisal - Mr. Nagel stated that the City of Anoka has two full-time Appraisers and one part-time appraiser. He added that while the City of Ramsey has a full-time Assessor who appraises all of the commercial and residential property, there are periods of time where he could use assistance. Mr. Nagel stated that the City of Anoka Appraisers could probably "pick up the slack". Animal Control - Mr. Nagel stated that the animal control issue was discussed back in February and maybe it is time now to look at other options. Ramsey Councilmember Peterson stated that the City Staffs are open to any other areas where possible shared services could be utilized and asked for Council feedback. Anoka Mayor Beberg stated that the City of Anoka put a list together of services and equipment they share with other cities and sent that to Governor Carlson. He offered to supply that same list to l¢lr. Schroeder. Mr. Nagel stated that the Cities of Anoka and Ramsey have a list of each other's Public Works equipment. He added that the general concept of this case is to determine if there is a consensus to explore these shared services further. Anoka Mayor Beberg stated he would be willing to take a good look at these issues. He felt that Mr. Nagel and Mr. Schroeder should discuss them further. .4moka Councilmember Mann stated he fecis these joint meetings are yen, effective and that m~ybe a meeting such as this should be scheduled ever3., three to four months. :rkis would allow for each cin, to let the other one -know what's going on in the present rather than after-the-fact. He expressed a hope that th/s meeting is the be~nning of what to expect in the future. R~msey Councilmember Peterson expressed the feeling that these mgetings are needed also.
