The General Election was held on Tuesday, November 4, <br />with all 8 polling locations open for voting. The polls were steadily busy and were "manned" by <br />76 Election Judges — 16 of those being Co -head Judges. They did an excellent job and served <br />several thousand voters. All the statistics have not yet been received regarding the number of in- <br />person and mail in absentee voters. We served hundreds of absentee voters at City Hall! Five <br />staff members sworn in and trained to do absentee ballots — and they were kept especially busy the <br />last two weeks before the election! <br />The local results are as follows: Kristine Williams was elected to the At Large Council seat, Jill <br />Johns was re- elected to serve as Ward 1 Councilmember, and Melody Shryock was elected to serve <br />Ward 3. <br />Star Tribune Article Recognizes Incoming Ramsey Police Chief, Jeff Katers. Ramsey Police <br />Captain Jeff Katers, a 14 -year veteran of the force, will become the City of Ramsey's police chief <br />in February. He will succeed James Way, who is retiring after 30 years on the force. Attached to <br />this Weekly Update is an article done by the Star Tribune recognizing Jeff Katers and his upcoming <br />role as the Ramsey Police Chief. Attached to the Weekly Update is a Star Tribune Article <br />Regarding Jeff Katers, Incoming Ramsey Police Chief <br />Seat Belts Can be Dangerous. A seven year old from Ramsey <br />got her finger stuck in the "D" ring of a seatbelt buckle on the <br />school bus. Officers were unable to free her finger because of the <br />amount of swelling. The seatbelt strap was cut and she was <br />transported to the hospital by her father.
