The Andover City <br />Council will 0~perate the facility as a financially self-sufficient operation through .ag~essive <br />marketing, promotion, and advertising to maximize all sources of revenues. She noted that there <br />is also an attempt to raise money through naming rights. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec~wished the City ofAnd0ver a lot of success on the project. <br />SNowMOBI~-,E REMINDER <br /> <br />Mayor Game, c! reminded all of the snowmobilers to be cautious' and adhere to the laws While <br />tiding in the City of Ramsey. <br /> <br />SNOW PLOWING OPERATIONS <br /> <br />Street Supervi,Sor Reimer gave a brief overview of the City's snoW plowing operation. -He <br />reviewed the ~ity's current fleet of trucks that are used for snow plowing and explained that the <br />City has ten ~I1 time employees for plowing and two employees on stand by. Mr. Reimer <br />explained that[a mixture of salt and sand is used in the neighborhoods after they plow or if the <br />roads get slipPery. Currently they keep about 200 tons of straight salt at Public Works, which is <br />enough to get !through three storms. In addition, they keep 1,200 tons of a combinatiOn of salt <br />and sand, which is typically enough to get through the entire season. If a complaint is received <br />pertaining to show plowing, either he or Mr. Kapler will respond. The City just opened a snow <br />plowing hot!trle, which is updated during a storm to-inform residents as to when plowing will <br />occur, that nurhber is 433-9852. In the future, the Council will need to discuss implementing a <br />policy on the ~lowxng.and maintenance of trails and sidewalks. The other issue they will have to <br />address in theinear future is that as the Town Center develops they will have to remove snow <br />from the area., ! Initially they will be able to store snow on the site, but eventually they Will have <br />to come up wi{h an area for storage. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamed inquired if it stops snowing .at 12:00 a.m., when would they typically start <br />plowing the streets. <br /> <br />Street Supervisor Riemer explained that they typically would start plowing at 2:00 a.m. because <br />there is a lot les traffic at that time. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec iinquired as to what time the walkways to the school are cleared. <br /> <br />Street SuperviS~or Reimer replied that the school walkways are cleared by 9:00 a.m. <br /> <br />PRESENTATION BY CENTERPOINT ENERGY FOR PURCHASIN© FIRE SERVICE <br />NOZZLES <br /> <br />Arnie Hender;son, representing Centerpoint Energy, presented the City of Ramsey Fire <br />Department .~ith a Community Partnership Grant in the amount of $2~500 to assist in the <br />purchase of Srfiall and large nozzles for the new aerial ladder truck. <br /> <br />City Council/November 25, 2003 <br /> Page 3 of 28 <br /> <br />P23 <br /> <br /> <br />
