CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION

Topic:

By:

Background:

Fences:

Fences, Outside Storage, Off-Sl~eet Parking

Sylvia Frolik, Community Development Director

Current City ordinances are not very specific when it comes to identifying
permitted materials and setbacks for fences. This leaves a lot to the discretion of City Stafl~
which makes administration of the code very d/fficult at times. City Staffis requesting the
opportunity to initiate a discussion of fence standards with City Council. Staff hopes to
gain some direction from Council and amend the City Code as necessary.

Outside Storage/Off Street Parking: Last summer the Council reviewed a conditional use
permit request for an oversized accessory building. Through the discussion that ensued, it
came to City Council's attention that there is not a lkn/t on the number of vehicles and
pieces of equipment that can be stored or parked on a residential lot. There was some
concern with issuing a conditional use permit for an oversized building and yet there was
nothing in City Code that would require a property owner to get their "stuff" indoors.
Council requested reviewing City Code regulations for outdoor storage and off-street
parking.

Attachments:
Additional doCuments will be distributed at the Work Session.

Action Statement:

Will be based on Counc/1 discussion.

ccws: o. lo, Oa
