1.5153 Nowthen Boulevard NW · Ramsey, Minnesota 55503
City Hall' (763) 427-!.410 · Fax: (763) 427-5543
www.ci.ramsey.mn.us

IV[ay 29, ~00o

Bruce & Karen Konvak
16620 Zircorfium St. NW
Ramsey, MN 55303

Dear Mr. & Mrs. Konvak:

Tlxe purposeiof this letter is To inform you of the City of Ramsey's fencing regulations. The City
has fielded t'~ number of calls over the past several days from concerned residents who have
stated that th. ey have heard ~hat ~ electric fence is going to be installed around the perimeter of
your property.

[ am mcIuestit~g that you contact me as soon as possible to discuss this situation. City Code does
state that fenCing material shall consist only of wood or chain link or other material as approved
by t[~e Zoning Administrator. Thus, if you are considering installing an electric fence, it first
need:~ to be approved by tim City.

A number of the callers also stated that all the pine trees around the perimeter of the property are
going to be removed to facilitate this fence. Many of the surrounding neighbors lmve children
and there is a lot of concern with them coming in contact with this fence if it is placed right at the
property, boundary. City Code does state that fencing must be located 100% on your property
and it is tlxe fence owner's responsibility to locate tim property boundaries. Therefore, I would'
like to discuss the possibility of leaving at least one row of trees between your propem./line and
the ekectric t~knce.

As a ~ina[ note, I want to inform you that we will be contacting someone from the Horse Care
Commission:to advise [ts on the electric fence issue. Please contact me prior to June 5, 2003, to
reform the City of your intentions or to dismiss some of tlxe rumors that people have lxeard. If I
am riot availgble, please contact Sylvia Frolik, Community Development Director, by the above
stated date. Either of us can be t'eached at 76o-4,.7-1410.
