CASE #

REDEVELOPMENT OF THE 2002 CDBG PARCELS
By: Sean Sullivan, Economic Development / TIF Specialist

Background:

Staff completed the acquisition of both the Chies and Morrell properties in late 2003.
The terms oflthe grant state that the property must be cleared of the existing blight one
the propertiesi within one year of acquisition in order to facilitate redevelopment. Staff
has completed a pre-demolition survey for the Morrell building and is ready to take bids
for the demolition and "clean-up" of both the Chies and Morrell parcels. Staff has had
many inquiries on the availability of these one acre parcels and feels it would be
imperative to have these properties available for development this Spring.

Recommendation:

Staff recommends that the EDA recommend to City Council to continue to proceed with
the CDBG process and commence demolition, blight removal and site preparation for
both the Chies and Morrell properties.

EDA Action:

Based on discussion.

Reviewed by:
City Administrator

EDA: 02/09/0;4
