Case #6 Appointment to Environmental Policy Task Force

Chairperson Nixt stated they need to appoint a Planning Commission representative to the
Environmental Policy Task Force, and asked if anyone was interested.

Commissioner Johnson asked if the representative has to actually sit on the Planning
Commission.

Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon indicated that was the idea.

Chairperson Nixt suggested they table it until January. He stated he is keeping his time open in
case there is a Town Center Review Board. He realizes this is important, but wondered if two
hours twice a month was reasonable. He asked if they could rotate on a schedule.

Assistant Community Development Director Trudgeon stated the committee is talking about the
Wetland Buffering ordinance, which could take several months, and probably needs consistency.

Chairperson Nixt asked if they have the ability to appoint a representative that reports to the
Planning Commission. He stated they have talked about having ex-officio members that do not
vote, and this would be an excellent option.

Commissioner Johnson agreed that was a good idea. He stated they had quite a lot of talented
interest in the open positions, and it would be a way to get someone involved on a limited basis.

Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Johnson to table the appointment of an
Environmental Policy Task Force representative until January, 2004.

Motion carried, Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Johnson, Van Scoy, Brauer,
Jeffrey, Shepherd and Watson. Voting No: None. Absent: None.

Commissioner Brauer indicated he would not mind doing it if not for his health concerns.

Commissioner Watson suggested there may be someone from the Town Center Task Force,
which is winding down, who would be interested.

Case #7

Reschedule January Meeting Date

Motion by Chairperson Nixt, seconded by Commissioner Brauer to reschedule the January
Planning Commission meeting to January 8, 2004.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Brauer, Jeffrey, Johnson,
Shepherd, Van Scoy and Watson. Voting No: None. Absent: None.

Planning Commission/December 4, 2003
Page 19of20
