Since that time, the City of Andover
pursued the building of a community center in the City of Andover. The Andover City Council
created a task force to complete a survey to determine the interest for a community center in
Andover. The Survey responses were quite positive since a big part of the community center will
be an ice arena for the new Andover High School. The City of Andover was very fortunate to be
able to partner with the YMCA on the project. Ms. Holthaus presented a site plan and a
fundraising brochure for the Center. She noted that she was not at the meeting to ask for money.
Their goal is to inform people as to what is occurring and provide information. The location of
the Community Center will be just north of Crosstown Boulevard, north of the City Hall and east
of Hanson Boulevard. The Community Center will include an indoor aquatic facility, which
would be operated by the YMCA. Additional features would include a wellness studio, kids

City Council/November 25, 2003
