She summarized what the departments have requested and stated that <br />the numbers have to be to the State before December 30. <br /> <br />Winslow Holasek, property owner in Ramsey, stated that Ramsey's tax capacity rate is a little <br />higher than the surrounding areas. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that some of those communities do not have to provide police protection; <br />therefore, Ramsey is offering more services. <br /> <br />Ms. Lund added that in comparing other cities - they are also larger cities and they have much <br />more revenue sources coming in. She added that Anoka has a higher tax capacity than Ral'nsey. <br /> <br />Mr. Holasek P,resented numbers from some other cities. He mentioned the storm sewer tax <br />district and added that it is like tripling the tax. He read a brief letter regarding the proposed <br />property tax tbr 2004 general levy and the Mississippi Storm Drainage District. He stated that <br />last year they presented a letter stating opposition also. He felt that all the issues still exist. Our <br />property will never to able to use the storm sewer pipes. We ask to be abated any tax we have <br />paid and ask not to have taxes to pay - or buy our property. Mr. Holasek presented City Clerk <br />Thieling with a copy of the letter to be filed with the minutes of this meeting. <br /> <br />Ed Hamilton, 6615 Highway #10 NW, Ramsey, stated he has been a Ramsey resident for 50 <br />years. Councihnernber Kurak has said that his taxes would be going down but in reality, they <br />went up. The largest increase is the portion the City is supposed to get. There is a moratorium <br />on Highway #10 now and the City is changing the zoning and he felt the City is driving his value <br />down. He wondered if this is the way the City Council wants to treat its senior citizens. He <br />added that his house is 150 years old and should have been grandfathered in with regard to the <br />zoning. <br /> <br />Respecifully subm?~e~, <br /> <br />Girly Clerk <br /> <br />Ed Hamilton, 6615 Highway #10 NW, Ramsey, stated that his house is valued at $1,000 at the <br />County, but his taxes are more than $2,000.
