One of the larger snow storms for early in the season arrived at 3:00 a.m.
on November 11 Public Works crews started working on our main arterial roads at 5:30 a.m.
and continued to salt and plow those roads until 1:30 p.m., when we switched over and started
plowing the residential areas. Staff decided on the 1:30 time frame because weather forecasts
predicted heavy snow to resume later in the afternoon. The idea was to split the storm in half
because we knew we would be back in November 12 to re -plow everything. Plowing wrapped
up at 11:30 p.m. The crew went home to rest and came back in at 5:00 a.m. on November 12 to
re -plow the entire city. Everything went well, considering all the new people involved for the first
time and redesigning of routes. The crew is now concentrating their efforts on salting and clearing
hard pack on arterial roads and spot treating slippery intersections in residential areas. The Parks
Department is out clearing trails, sidewalks, and municipal parking lots.
Save the Date:
• Northern Starz Childrens Theatre Presents Cinderella. November 21 — 23, 2014,
Northgate Performing Arts Center, 7295 Sunwood Drive, Ramsey, MN. Attached to the
Weekly Update is a Flyer for the Northern Starz Childrens Theatre Presentation of
Cinderella.
