PROCEEDINGS OF CITY COUNCIL <br /> CITY OF RAMSEY <br /> ANOKA COUNTY <br /> STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey City Council continued the April 26, 1988 Board of Review and <br />City Council meeting on Tuesday, May 3, 1988 at the Ramsey Municipal <br />Center, 15153 Nowthen Blvd. N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Members Present: <br /> <br />Mayor Gary Reimann <br />Councilmember A1 Sorteberg <br />Councilmember Arnie Cox <br />Councilmamber Steve DeLuca <br />Council~Jnber A1 Pearson <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator David Hartley <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br />City Engineer Peter Raaatikka <br />City Assessor Lester Wirz <br />Anoka County Deputy Assessor Gordy Starky <br /> <br />.CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Reimann called the continuation of the April 26, 1988 Board of Review <br />and City Council meeting to order at 7:10 p.m. and led in the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to the Flag. <br /> <br />Tom Roof-- 14.369 Waco - PIN ~25-32-25,42-0012 - <br /> <br />Mr. Roof stated that he bought his home last fall for $165,000 and this <br />year's assessed value is $185,000. Mr. Roof stated that there is an <br />identical home in the area with approximately $15,000 in 1L~ury items that <br />his hc~e does not have; that home was purchased for $199,500 and sold for <br />$190,000 two years later; without the $15,000 in luxury items, that home <br />would have sold for $175,000; therefore, the most his home should be <br />assessed at is $175,000. Mr. Roof stated that he has been told that the <br />assessed value is based on square footage; his home has a lot of square <br />footge but no luxuries; home buyers look at the amenities in a home when <br />they are in the market. <br /> <br />Ca~la Holm - 7854 142nd Avenue N.W..~ PIN ~28-32-25-33-0014 - <br /> <br />Ms. Holm stated that she is not disputing her property valuation but she is <br />disputing the increase in property taxes and the inconsistencies she <br />discovered when reviewing similar properties. Ms. Holm stated that her <br />1987 property taxes were $2,342 and the home was assessed at $149,200; the <br />1988 property value increased by $5,300 and property taxes increased by <br />40%. Ms. Holm presented Council with information indicating that many <br />homes for sale in the area, listing for more than her property is assessed <br />May 3, 1988 <br /> <br />Page 3 of 11 <br /> <br /> <br />
