Motion by Councilmember Pearson to authorize that the new pick-up truck
just purchased for Public Works be used in the Utility Department and a
used pick-up be purchased for use in Public Works.

Further Discussion: Mr. Hartley noted that the new pick-up would have to
have it's existing box replaced with a utility box; the City would then
have an extra, new pick up box lying around or be trying to mount it on an
old chassis.

Motion failed for lack of a second.

Motion by Councilmember Pearson and seconded by Mayor Reimann to authorize
a maximum expenditure of $18,000 for the purchase of a pick-up truck to be
used in the Utility Department.

Motion carried. Voting No: Councilmembers Cox and Sorteberg.

Case #2: gequest For Temporary Liquor License; Case Of Ramsey Lion~;

Mr. Hartley noted that according to State statute, Council can grant
temporary liquor licenses; Ramsey does not have a local ordinance to do so
but one will be drafted.

Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to
grant a temporary liquor license to the Ramsey Lions Club for a fee of
$10.00 and upon meeting all requirements for regular liquor licenses.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers $orteberg, Cox,
DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None.

Case #3: Discuss Recycling Program:

Mayor Reimann requested that staff research implementation methods for the
recycling project and whether the containers can be imprinted with Ramsey's
logo.

MAYOR AND GQUNGIL INPUT

Mayor Reimann stated that he has received a request for some caution
signing at 167th and Armstrong to note the presence of a handicapped child
in the neighborhood. Council directed Chief Auspos to research the need
for signing at 167th and Armstrong.

Councilmember Cox explained a situation where the Board of Adjustment
approved signage for Tim Doyle at Nord's Cafe on the condition that an
additional sign on the property be removed; in the removal process, it
became evident that the additional sign is a power source; this was brought
to the attention of the Board of Adjustment; the Board upheld their
previous determination to have the sign removed.

Mayor Reimann noted that the Board of Adjustment is a decision making body
City Council/May 31, 1988
