Mr. Hartley suggested that staff meet with the homeowner and a
representative of concerned neighbors to try and come up with a solution.

Councilmember Cox stated that to consider moving the house would be a waste
of time; it is better to start selecting another parcel to be used as park.

Kevin Branch - Stated that any other lot selected for park would be farther
away from where he built in order to be near a park.

Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to
direct City Staff to proceed to search for an alternate site that the City
can purchas, e in order to provide park space either in Countryside Estates
or in nearby subdivisions.

Further Discussion: Residents of Countryside Estates disagreed with
searching for an alternate site ia nearby subdivisions; they don't want
their children crossing county roads and they don't want to have to drive
their children to a park. Kevin Brand stated that the house should be
moved to amother lot in Countryside Estates and Outlot B should be retained
as park because it is the only double sized lot in the addition.
Councilmember Cox stated that Council has been advised that it is doubtful
the city will be successful in trying to have the house moved and any money
spent in that effort would be that of the taxpayers. Mayor Reimann stated
that there should be some research as to whether or not there is an avenue
the city can pursue to gain compensation for having to buy another parcel
for public use.

Motion carried. Voting Yes: Mayor Reimann, Councilmembers Sorteberg, Cox,
DeLuca and Pearson. Voting No: None.

Mr. Goodrich requested that the concerned residents of Countryside Estates
select one person that staff can notify of any future meetings regarding
Outlot B im Countryside Estates.

Council recessed at 9:05 p.m.

Mayor Reimann called the meeting back to order at 9:25 p.m.

CONSEN% AGENDA

Motion by Councilmember Cox and seconded by Councilmember Sorteberg to
approve the following items contained in the Consent Agenda:

1) City Council meeting minutes:

a) Public hearing meeting minutes dated April 12, 1988 regarding
public improvements in Caroline A~res.
b) Regular meeting minutes dated April 12, 1988.
c) Special meeting minutes dted May 19, 1988.
d) Public hearing meeting minutes dated May 24, 1988 regarding Mr.
James Meyer's request for an amusement center and billiard tables
license for The Place #1.
City Council/June 28, 1988
