Neither Snow nor Rain nor Gloom of Night — the MRT. Neither snow nor rain nor gloom of night stays these contractors from the swift completion of their appointed rounds... Sunram Construction, the contractor for the City of Anoka and Ramsey's Mississippi River Trail project, presses on despite the unseasonable `cool' weather. Not only have temps and snow been a hindrance, an ice dam on the side channel of King's Island created some minor flooding of the work site on the west bridge (the one shared by Anoka and Ramsey). Bituminous paving of the trail at Mississippi West Regional Park occurred days before the snowfall and dramatic turn in the weather. Concrete pedestrian ramps also were completed along Riverdale Drive. Sunram will continue to work using blankets and heated tents for the myriad concrete work for the two bridges as long as possible. With all work pursuant to the Federal funding needing to be complete by June 30, 2015, there is great emphasis on getting all bridge work done that could be fouled -up by likely spring flooding of the Mighty Miss. When the project is nearing completion, a very poignant ribbon cutting will be scheduled at the center of the west bridge - which is exactly the boundary of these two, soon to be connected communities...
