ORDINANCE 89- <br /> <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />AN ORDINANCE AMENDING CHAPTER <br />80.07 FIRE SAFETY CHAPTER OF THE <br />CITY CODE OF RAMSEY, MINNESOTA <br />AND ADOPT iCHAPTER 10.042 WHICH <br />SHALL BE KNOWN AS THE FIRE BOARD <br />CHAPTER OF THE CITY CODE OF <br />RAMSEY, MINNESOTA, The City Council of <br />the City of Ramsey does hereby ordain: <br /> <br />Section 1 <br />The City Code of Ramsey, Minnesota is <br />amended to include Chapter 10.042 Fire <br />Board as follows: <br /> <br />10.042 FIRE BOARD <br /> <br />A. ESTABLISHMENT OF BOARD <br /> A Fire Board for the City of Ramsey is <br /> hereby established. <br /> <br />B.TITLE <br /> This organiZation shall be known as the <br /> Ramsey Fire Board. <br /> <br />SCOPE <br />The scope of activity of this Board shall <br />consist of advising the City Council and <br />other Ramsey advisory Boards regarding <br />matters relevant to the City's Fire <br />Department. <br /> <br />D. OBJECTIVE <br /> The primary objective of this Board is to <br /> review administrative and/or operational <br /> matters relative to the fire protection and <br /> fire prevention, and to advise the City <br /> Council of policy matters relevant to the <br /> fire safety function in Ramsey. <br /> <br />DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES <br />In fulfillment of its objective, the duties <br />and responsibilities of the Board shall be <br />to: <br /> <br />1. provide administrative assistance to the <br /> Fire Chief, promote communication within <br /> the fire department and between the fire <br /> department and other community leaders; <br /> <br />2. act as a selection board for Fire Chief and <br /> make recommendations to the City Council; <br /> <br />Fo <br /> <br />Go <br /> <br />review fire department operation on a <br />quarterly basis and assist the Fire Chief in <br />determining possible areas of <br />improvements; <br /> <br />review and approve rules and regulations <br />for the fire department; <br /> <br />act as Fire Chief administratively in the <br />absence of the Fire Chief; <br /> <br />confirm Officer appointment by the Fire <br />Chief. <br /> <br />COMPOSITION <br />The Board shall be composed of the City <br />Administrator, two members of the City <br />Council appointed annually at the first <br />regular meeting of the City Council in <br />January, three Fire Fighters nominated <br />and appointed by all fire fighters annually <br />no later than January 15, one person <br />appointed by the City Council and the Fire <br />Chief (ex officio). <br /> <br />MEMBERS METHOD OF SELECTION - <br />TERM OF OFFICE REMOVAL <br />The chairperson shall be selected annually <br />by a majority vote of the board. The <br />chairperson may be removed by a <br />majority vote of the board. The <br />chairperson shall have the following <br />responsibilities in addition to those <br />otherwise described herein: <br />a. Preside over all meetings of the board. <br /> <br />b. Appear or appoint a representative to <br /> appear, as necessary, before the city <br /> advisory boards and the City Council to <br /> <br /> <br />
