It has now become essential for the <br /> safety of thc .new members that they be provided with personal <br /> <br /> : <br /> <br /> Self-Conmi ~xt Breathing Apparatus <br /> (S.C.B.A.s'}., _ ~ Z,Oqt~a <br /> The current ~luanfity of S.C.B.A.s is limiting th~ effectiveness' <br /> of fire suppression to exterior attacks only. It is necessary to <br /> equip the department with additional $.C.B.A.s for interior <br /> rescue and suppression along with the back-up personnel <br /> support. <br /> <br />4) 24" Portable Gas Fan 1 1,295/ea 1,295 <br /> Theversafil[ty, ~ombined with the additional horse-power, <br /> will allow the 24" gas fan to be standard equipment for use <br /> in positive Ventilation. <br /> <br />3,210 <br /> <br />5) Heat Detection Unit 1 750/ca 750 <br /> Heat deteetibn units are desired to identify inner wail <br /> fires which are often associated with wood burning chimney <br /> fires. These units prevent unnecessary damage to property <br /> and reduce the threat of return calls to the same location due <br /> to hidden hot spots. <br /> <br />Total Requested $15,486 <br /> <br />Due to time constraints, this request has not been presented to the Fire Board for <br />discussion. We must have this equipment in place on or before the first of the year. <br /> <br />The Finance Officer is preparing a recap of the start-up costs for the Fire Deparunent. This <br />recap will be available at the meeting. <br /> <br /> <br />
