CASE #

REVIEW RECOMMENDATIONS OF THE INTERVIEWING PANEL
BY: Kay McAioney, Personnel Coordinator

Background:

On August 28, 1991 the Fire Board reviewed the selection process to fill the six vacancies on the
Ramsey Volunteer Fire Department. After discussion the Board agreed that they would like
applicants to the DePartment to be interviewed by a panel consisting of the Personnel Coordinator,
Fire Chief, and 3 Ramsey Volunteer Fire Fighters, after which the recommendations of the panel
would be presented to the Fire Board.

On October 11, 1991 the panel consisting of Personnel Coordinator Kay McAloney, Fire Chief
Dave Griffin,~ and Volunteer Fire Fighters Wade Geving, Dean Kapler, and Bob Simpson
reviewed the applications and interviewed seven individuals interested in the position of' Volunteer
Fire Fighter with the City of Ramsey. The panel recommends to the Fire Board that five of the
seven applicmi~ts be offered the position of Volunteer Fire Fighter and further recommend that the
applications of~ the remaining two applicants be retained for possible future vacancies. As the Fire
Department is Currently seeking applicants for daytime fhe fighting, those applicants with the most
time available ~md the most flexible schedule received primary consideration. As more applications
for the positions are received, the panel will again meet to interview to f'rll the remaining position.

Applications for the five recommended applicants have been attached.

Recommendation:

To approve the recommendations of' the interviewing panel and offer the position of Volunteer Fire
Fighter to William Fiduk, Peter Funder, Dennis Klotter, Jeffrey Perowitz, and Ronald Westby.

Board Action:

To approve/not approve the recommendations of the interviewing panel and forward those
recommendatiOns to the City Council.

Review Checklist:

City Adminiswator
Personnel Coordinator
Fire Chief

FB: 10/22/91
