REVIEW OF RAMSEY TERRACE AND FLINTWOOD
HILLS PARK
By: Merland Otto

CASE

Background:

At the January 10 Parks Commission meeting it was determined to
review the Flintwood Hills Park. Since Ramsey Terrace is in such
close proximity, it is desirable to review both parks at the same
time.

As you may recall, these two parks were the subject of discussion
at your September 12 meeting in anticipation of the proposed
sanitary sewer extension, part of which would traverse these parks.
At that time, the Commission determined that reclamation of these
areas in conjunction with the sewer project may consist of grading,
tree planting or other reasonable restoration measures. The
development proposals which served as the catalyst for the sewer
extension were withdrawn but may be resurrected this Spring.

The two parks are located within the urban service area of the City
west of Highway 47 and abut 142nd Ave. N.W.

Details of each park are as follows:

Flintwood Hills

This park is comprised of an east and west park separated by a
residential lot and Fluorine Street. The park is wooded with
intermittent wetlands. The combined acreage is approximately 13.4
acres. The projected improvement is to leave as open space with
the possible development of a mini-park on the south end of the
east park.

No funds are projected for development within the current 5 year
CIP.

Ramsey Terrace

This park of approximately 4.6 acres abuts Flintwo°d Hills park and
has frontage on Junkite Street. The park is generally low, wooded
wetlands with some higher ground. A small area off of Junkite has
park equipment including swings, a catwalk, picnic table and grill.
The proposed development is as a possible trailhead for the trail
to the elementary school.

No funds are projected for development within the current 5 year
CIP.
